Kylian Mbappe refuses to watch World Cup game back over fears it might ‘awake some demons’
KYLIAN MBAPPE revealed he has never rewatched the thrilling 2022 World Cup final because it “might awaken some demons.”
Mbappe, 27, scored a hat-trick for France in an unforgettable 3-3 draw with Argentina four years ago in Qatar but the then defending world champions lost 4-2 on penalties.

The Real Madrid star put together a display to remember but the result, which saw Lionel Messi winning his first ever World Cup, left him with such a deep heartbreak that he doesn’t have the strength to watch it back.
The star forward admits that might have been the most entertaining final of all time but suggested he will never bother revisiting.
Mbappe told Sorare: “The greatest final of all time?
“I think nothing matches it in terms of entertainment, the clash, the match scenario, with so many twists and turns. It ended with penalties, the most brutal way for anyone.

“It was either Lionel Messi’s first World Cup win or a back-to-back for France, so it was historic no matter what.
“Have I watched the match again since? Never! I think if I do, it might awaken some demons.”
Mbappe’s masterclass wasn’t enough for France to retain their title as Messi’s brace – sandwiched between a strike by Angel Di Maria – took a barn-burner of a match to penalties at Lusail Stadium.
The ex-Paris Saint-Germain star was on target but it was Gonzalo Montiel’s shot that sealed Argentina‘s third World Cup trophy.
Mbappe was denied a back-to-back triumph after leading France to glory in 2018.
However, Les Bleus are among the favourites to lift the 2026 World Cup this summer in the United States, who are co-hosting alongside Canada and Mexico.
This comes after a tough season with Real that saw him failing to win a trophy for the second year in a row since moving to Santiago Bernabeu.
