LeBron James and Cristiano Ronaldo have built their careers on rewriting the rules of aging in sports.

LeBron James Gets Roasted by Cristiano Ronaldo - and Then Some Big...

At 40, both continue to dominate, inspire, and challenge what limits really mean.

Yet even icons can enjoy a little friendly jab now and then.

During an interview with Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan UncensoredRonaldo was asked what keeps him hungry at this stage of his career. His answer came with a smile and a touch of humor:

I saw good examples in other sports, for example, in basketball, LeBron James. I think we are the same age. I have more hair than him. I think it’s good because he still plays basketball and he’s in good shape.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The lighthearted remark went viral within hours. Fans laughed, memes appeared instantly, and LeBron’s name started trending once again. Behind the playful shade, though, was genuine respect from one all-time great to another. Both men have spent two decades chasing perfection and showing the world that discipline never retires.

LeBron Close to Return as Lakers Keep Winning

While Ronaldo entertained fans off the pitch, LeBron quietly took a big step on it. The Lakers confirmed that he has been cleared for full-contact drills, according to Sports Illustrated. His return could come as early as November 18, during a three-game stretch against the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers. If that schedule holds, James will have missed 14 games to start the 2025 season.

Head coach J.J. Redick told The Athletic’s Dan Woike that the team is approaching LeBron’s recovery with patience. “There’s no clear formula for a player with this much experience,” Redick said. “You listen to his body and make adjustments.”

Despite the absence of their star, the Lakers have been impressive. They are 7-2, second in the Western Conference, and riding a five-game winning streak. Anthony Davis has led the charge, while Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell have provided stability. The message is clear: this team can compete even while its leader heals.

Two Icons Still Setting the Standard

Cristiano Ronaldo’s story is evolving just as fast. According to Reuters, he recently became the first footballer in history to reach billionaire status. That milestone puts him alongside figures like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, and LeBron James himself.

Their careers have mirrored each other almost perfectly. Ronaldo debuted in 2002LeBron in 2003. Both have been global icons ever since, dominating their sports, expanding their brands, and redefining longevity. Ronaldo’s hairline joke may have been cheeky, but his admiration was unmistakable. It was one living legend tipping his hat to another, two athletes refusing to let age define them.
