THE NBA’S GENTLE GIANT SNAPS: Inside the shocking moment a $70,000 ‘cheap shot’ hip-check from a role player ignited a fire in Nikola Jokic and exposed the league’s most glaring double standard.

We saw Nicole Jokic get heated with Lou Dort and OKC after Lou Dort hip checked him running up the court. Let me know in the comments section. Do you think it was dirty from Lou Dort? But here’s what Yokic had to say about it. >> Obviously, it was a chippy game. What What was your perspective on the the foul door commitment? >> It is what it is. You know, I’m not going to comment. It’s um unnecessary move and unnecessary reaction. There is no such thing. I think they’re not supposed to be um those things in a basketball floor. So, it was just unnecessary move and a necessary reaction by me. Did you did you feel like it was just to that play or or anything previous? >> We know we know they are cheapy.

They are the handsy. They are a little bit, you know, on the edge on the edge, but you know, I think we responded well. >> It seemed like your frustration kind of built throughout the game. >> Is that a fair assessment in in terms of the physicality and and that sort of thing? >> I don’t I don’t know. Right. I think I it’s a basketball is emotional game.

You know, you’re going to have ups and downs. So, I I’m not sure that I was frustrated. >> I saw you stayed out to do, you know, shake hands after the game. Just was there anything that you wanted to get across to them at the end of that game? Just staying out for the handshakes? >> No, I think I do it. I do this literally every game, seeing after I shake hands. So, it was nothing special. >> After the door fell, did Jaylen Williams do anything to escalate in the situation. >> I’m not going to comment. It’s not worth it. >> Sorry, not to fall on too much, but I did want to ask, did you think you were going to get ejected maybe during that review process after the whole >> I think I didn’t do nothing. >> Make sure I heard you. Uh, you called door an unnecessary play.

Did you call it a necessary reaction? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I’ll say this. I think his frustration is sometimes because the game’s officiated differently out on the floor than it is near the basket. Um, and you know, I think he was reacting to what was being done to him. Um, and his reaction is not going to be to cower away. He’s he’s competitive. Uh, so when we play them again, whatever it is in like 10 days, I’m sure it’ll be the exact same way. Uh, but we’re not going to play the way we did in Denver. Like I said, we’re going to be physical with these guys. um you know, and you have to play that way, especially out on the perimeter in today’s game. So, uh yeah, I I know why he’s frustrated. Um I can feel his frustration with all the contact out there.

He shot five free throws. It’s um it’s just part of the game. Uh the closer you get to the basket, it seems like for a bigger guy, um it seems like it’s called a little bit different. Uh but he has to react to that the right way. Uh concentrate and finish through contact. And obviously with Dort’s play, I think that took it to a different level for him. he felt like it was malicious. Also, >> if you were watching the game, I think you could see very clearly very early that that was a chippy game. Um, these are two teams that played each other in a seven game series. We’re in the same division. We’ve played each other a hundred times.

You know, they know our playbook. We know their playbook. It’s it’s just what it is. Like I said, it’s going to be uh an imperfect game. Uh and things get, you know, they escalate like that sometimes. I know Lou, I know Joic, I know Jay Will. I don’t think anybody’s trying to hurt anybody. They’re just great competitors and um you know I that’s what I I thought it just boiled over. I think it was nothing more than that. I will say this if a player gets if Jay Will is running up the floor and gets tripped we expect a flagrant two from this point forward. You know that’s all you know if that’s the precedent if that becomes a malicious play and flagrant two is the line in the sand on that we would expect that if it’s Jay Will. We would expect that if it’s anybody and if that’s the case we’re good. Did you think it was upgraded to a flagrant tube because it was a three-time MVP who got tripped? >> No, I’m not going to answer the question like that.
