Rapper Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is a grandfather! The rapper’s daughter Hailie Jade Scott – who he shares with ex-wife Kim Scott – welcomed her first child with her husband Evan McClintock on March 14.

Sharing photos of her newborn on Instagram for the first time on April 4, Mathers paid tribute to her father, naming her son Elliot Marshall McClintock.

Per his LinkedIn profile, Evan McClintock graduated from Michigan State University in 2018 with a degree in economics. It was there that he met his future-wife, who was also an MSU student pursuing a degree in psychology. The couple started dating in 2016, and have been together ever since.

Before his economics degree, McClintock studied business, management, marketing, and related support services at Rochester Christian University for a year. During his time at the private college, he played golf for the RCU team and was supported by an athletic and academic scholarship from 2014 to 2015.

Evan McClintock works at the Michigan-based software development company Scout. Per his LinkedIn, he joined the company as a new business development executive in 2018 before snagging the director of sales and products position last year. He is also a board member at MC Capital and Technology, a firm that focuses on investing in and developing new technology.

Eminem and his son-in-law come from wildly different backgrounds.

“Marshall was just hitting the big time at the age Evan is now, making headlines for his shocking lyrics and toxic relationship with Kim. Evan studied economics and is a keen golfer, there’s a huge difference!” a source close to Hailie reportedly told the Daily Mail in 2018.

But the same source added that McClintock is a fan of his father in law’s music, and that Eminem welcomed him into the fold with open arms. Per People, the “Houdini” rapper’s brother, Nathan Kane Mathers, also approves of his niece’s husband, referring to him as “My Homie Evan” under a photo of the couple on Scott’s Instagram account.

Before McClintock proposed to his girlfriend, he made sure to obtain his future father-in-law’s blessing, but recalls mulling over the timing. Thanks to his influencer wife’s birthday falling on Christmas, the opportune moment presented itself when the family got together for the holidays. “I saw your dad go downstairs, and I’m like, ‘I gotta do it right now, or I’m not doing it today, and I’m gonna have to schedule another time,’” McClintock shared on the Just a Little Shady podcast. “So I just followed him downstairs, and, thankfully, he was just down there getting your cake and I made it happen.”
