Get ready, movie fans and rap devotees alike—Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, aka Slim Shady, is stepping onto the big screen in a new documentary titled Stans, set for an exclusive limited run in AMC Theaters from August 7 through August 10.

The film’s title references Eminem’s iconic 2000 hit “Stan,” which tells the story of an obsessive superfan whose infatuation takes a dark turn. Since then, “stan” has evolved from that cautionary tale into a popular term of endearment for devoted fans, even earning a spot in the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. Stans explores Eminem’s legendary career through the eyes of his most passionate supporters, offering a fresh perspective on the artist’s profound cultural impact.

Following the successful theatrical releases of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance, AMC Theatres Distribution is spearheading the U.S. rollout. Over 135 AMC locations nationwide will screen the documentary with at least two showtimes daily. However, due to the film’s limited run, it won’t be available for AMC Stubs A-List reservations or discount tickets. Notably, Stans will also have a full week awards-qualifying run at the prestigious AMC Empire 25 in New York City.

International audiences will see Stans via Trafalgar Releasing, which plans to showcase the documentary in approximately 1,600 theaters across 50 territories, also starting August 7.

Directed by Steven Leckart, Stans delves into the complex interplay between Eminem’s fiercely private nature and his massive public persona. Through a blend of archival footage, reenactments, and new interviews, the film paints a nuanced portrait of the rapper’s highs and lows throughout his career. Eminem himself serves as a producer alongside Paul Rosenberg, Stuart Parr, Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, and David Schiff.

As one of the most influential artists of his generation, with 15 Grammys under his belt and hits like “Lose Yourself,” “Without Me,” and “Love the Way You Lie,” Eminem’s story promises to captivate fans old and new. For those eager to explore the legacy of Slim Shady, Stans offers a rare glimpse into the life and career of a music legend—on the big screen.
