ALLEN PARK, MI – Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is familiar with a lot of Detroit Lions players, their talents and the city’s love that surrounds the team.

Oh, and one more major contributor to the city that goes by the name of Eminem.

At McDaniel’s press conference before the first joint practice with the Lions in Allen Park, a reporter started the sling of questions asking about his familiarity with the popular rapper and his relationship with Detroit and the Lions.

He asked, “Why don’t we start with something fun? You’re an Eminem fan, right? did you enjoy the movie ‘8 Mile’? You think of any of that when you come out here?”

McDaniel smiled and punched back with a snarky start of a response, saying “I mean, I think all questions are fun.”

McDaniel continued to give a short history of his passion for Eminem’s music.

“I graduated high school in 2001. I was a sophomore in high school and his first album came out. And, yeah, who doesn’t know the 8 mile anthem, you know? So, I actually reference it. I call it an 8 mile, (it) is when you do this battle rap thing where you just say all the things that people know to be true and then what? So, yeah, I really wish you’d bring it to practice. It would be cool.”

The Lions and Dolphins are hosting the second joint practice Thursday before playing at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford Field in a preseason showdown.
