Cardi B Break Social Media Silence To Send Clear Strong Honesty Message To Megan Thee Stallion And GloRilla Over Being Successful Rapper

In a recent live on X (formerly Twitter) spaces, Cardi B discussed with fans how reliability, not just being a lyricist, is also a factor regarding being a successful rapper. According to her, Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla are the perfect examples. “[Megan] looks like one of those girls that is like you, that’s like, ‘Yo, I have to make it…I have to go to school,” Cardi said.
“Because not everybody lives my lifestyle, not everybody is a gangmember, ex-gangmember, stripper…whatever the f*ck, like me. Not everybody relates to my lifestyle, but everybody can relate to her lifestyle.”
She added, “There’s a lot of girls that it’s like…they go to school, but they’re fun girls too. Cause when you go to school, you just not like…everyone think you a nerd. No, you’re a fun girl, living ya life, going to school, experimenting [and] having fun.”
“To me, every female rapper that is like popping right now, people like them because it’s like something that they could relate to,” Cardi B says.
Regarding GloRilla, Cardi B highlighted the Memphis native’s down-to-earth personality. The rapper said Glo reminds her of the girls she knew growing up. “She reminds me of some girl that I f*ck with, party with, smoke with…it’s like a relatable thing.” She continued: “You feel like you kinda know her lifestyle because you lived that lifestyle.”
Toward the tail end of the clip, the “WAP” rapper proposed that the common thread between Megan, GloRilla, and other successful “popping” female rappers is their ability to be relatable and unique. “To me, every female rapper that is like popping right now, people like them because it’s like something that they could relate to.”
Cardi B has always stood on the side of her female contemporaries, especially in light of how they are often mistreated in the entertainment industry. “Female rappers, y’all, they are always in mad pressure,” she told Billboard in a 2020 interview.
“If you don’t have a super crazy smash, it’s like oh, you flop, flop flop. The song could be like two-times platinum and it’s still flop, flop, flop. You’re always under pressure, and I feel like it’s not fair.”
