Joyner Lucas has officially released ADHD 2 today, July 18, 2025, serving as the long-awaited sequel to his 2020 debut album ADHD. As his third studio album under his independent label, Twenty Nine Music Group, ADHD 2 sees Lucas continuing to channel the inner workings of his diagnosed ADHD into a sprawling hip-hop experience recorded throughout 2024 and 2025. The album arrives stacked with high-profile collaborations—from Ava Max and T-Pain to Big Sean, J Balvin, DaBaby, Fireboy DML, and Chris Brown—suggesting a broad stylistic palette and ambitious cross-genre outreach.
Stylistically, the album carries over the cinematic production and heartfelt lyricism praised by critics for its blend of cinematic rap beats, direct lyricism, and standout features, marking it as one of Lucas’s most personal and versatile efforts. The ADHD series gives Lucas creative freedom to explore his scattered thoughts and express a multitude of musical facets without being shackled by traditional album structure. This looseness provides the perfect canvas for introspective storytelling, intricate rhyme schemes, and an emotional ebb and flow that mirrors the artist’s internal experiences.
The rollout of ADHD 2 was strategically paced: lead single “One of Them” dropped June 5, followed by “White Noise” on June 27, and the star-studded “Time Is Money” featuring J Balvin, DaBaby, and Fireboy DML on July 11. This steady stream of releases built momentum, culminating in the full album launch today—available via major streaming platforms and physical formats like vinyl and CD.
Thematically and tonally, ADHD 2 keeps faith with the original’s emotional core, delving deeper into mental health, self-awareness, and navigating success while managing internal chaos. Early responses have highlighted the album’s narrative arc—anchored by powerful singles and layered production—as showing Lucas in top form. Moving forward, the true impact of ADHD 2 will hinge on how these collaborations and thematic ambitions resonate with listeners and critics alike. But at first listen, Joyner Lucas seems to have crafted a sequel that both honors and expands upon the spirit of his debut while signaling a bold step forward.
In the song “Active,” Big Sean references Eminem with the following lines: “Trusted the hate, I’m susceptible / Came after Em and I’m stackin’ these M’s / Yeah, I’m stackin’ ’em like they collectibles.”
In the song “Listen To My Demo”, Joyner shouts out Dr. Dre and Eminem: “It’s 2001, I’m thirteen now, but I’m better than I was / Rappin’ in my class when I should be doin’ work / But I’m thinkin’ ’bout this beat I was hearin’ on the bus / I heard Dre and Snoop Dogg was in town / Up In Smoke tour, Eminem comin’ out / You should have seen the way my eyes popped out / You done thought the heavens opened up and God popped out, uh / I wish that I could vibe with him / If I gave him my demo, maybe I could ride with him / Maybe Em would listen if I got some time with him / Maybe Dre is lookin’ for a kid that can sign with him / I don’t know.”
Joyner also sampled Eminem’s Sway interview as an intro for a song “The Way That I Am”. He also shows love to Eminem with the following lines: “Some ni–as tell me I remind ’em of Em. The MMLP album had me on ten. The s–t I was goin’ through made me a Stan.” You can listen to the album below:
