Not only attracting attention with his on-field performance, Lamine Yamal continued to be the center of attention in Spain’s match against Austria in the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup with a series of unique accessories that reflected his personal style. Appearing at the SoFi Arena (Los Angeles), the 18-year-old talent wore a Spanish national team tracksuit, paired with a Chrome Hearts cap, Bonennoisseur II sunglasses, and his familiar wristband. However, the most striking element was the large necklace with a sparkling Batman pendant worn around his neck.
According to international media, this piece of jewelry was custom-made by The AJ Jewels – a brand specializing in crafting jewelry with 18K gold and natural diamonds. The brand itself posted a video of the crafting process, describing it as “a Batman pendant inspired by the darkness of Gotham City, symbolizing strength, mystery, and timeless heroism.”

This isn’t the first time Yamal has drawn attention to his luxurious jewelry. Previously, during the match against Saudi Arabia, the Barcelona star wore a unique necklace with the number “304,” designed to honor Rocafonda – the neighborhood where he grew up.
For his 18th birthday, Yamal received a special gift from Dominican Republic rapper El Alfa: a gold necklace studded with diamonds, engraved with the first two letters of his name. British media revealed this gift was worth over £300,000.
Besides the necklace, another accessory of Yamal’s quickly went viral on social media: a headband inscribed with the words “Ego Yamal.” At first glance, it seems like just a headband to keep his hair tidy during matches. However, the word “Ego” carries a special meaning.
As a fan of Japanese anime and manga, Yamal is believed to have been inspired by the popular manga series Blue Lock. This manga tells the story of a project to find the best striker in Japan, with the philosophy that to create the world’s number one player, individual talent and a sufficiently large ego are indispensable elements.
Therefore, the translated message “Ego Yamal” is interpreted by many as an affirmation of his aspiration to become a leading figure for the Spanish national team – something the 18-year-old star is also expected to achieve at the 2026 World Cup.

Many fans even pointed out that the character Bunny Iglesias in Blue Lock seems to be based on Yamal himself. This character is a Spanish player, wearing the number 19 jersey, playing for the fictional club FC Barcha (inspired by Barcelona), and considered the best young talent in the world – details that coincidentally align with Yamal’s.
Despite frequently making an impression with expensive outfits and accessories, Yamal insists that what he cares about most is football. Speaking before the match against Austria, the player born in 2007 said he watched all the World Cup matches and was particularly surprised by Germany’s early elimination.
“I watched all the World Cup matches. The Netherlands game was quite balanced, but Germany’s elimination really surprised me. Among the stars, I really like Vinicius. Of course, there’s also Messi. Besides, Saibari is also playing very well, not only scoring goals but also showing quality in his play.”
Yamal also spoke about the pressure of being considered Spain’s biggest hope. “There are players who play best when they are extremely focused, but there are also those who reach their peak when they feel happy. I need to be happy, relaxed, not think too much, and always smile when playing football. That’s how I can maximize my potential,” the 18-year-old star shared.
