The Barcelona dressing room is reportedly in turmoil due to the actions of young star Lamine Yamal. According to El Nacional, many Barcelona players are unhappy with Yamal’s recent attempts to influence the club’s sporting decisions. Despite his young age, Yamal has taken steps considered by some within the club as overstepping boundaries, causing concern among the team’s internal environment.

The situation escalated when Barcelona pursued striker Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. Williams, a close friend of Yamal on the Spanish national team, reportedly turned down several attractive offers to join Barcelona. After a meeting between Deco (Barcelona’s sporting advisor) and Williams’ representatives, Yamal posted a close-up photo with Williams on Instagram. This move was perceived as indirect pressure on the club’s management.

Yamal’s deliberate expression of personal wishes during the transfer negotiations has heightened tensions in the Barcelona locker room. Particularly, if Williams joins, the futures of players like Raphinha and Ferran Torres could be jeopardized, which has caused dissatisfaction among some players about a young teammate interfering in personnel matters.

Furthermore, there are growing worries within the club about Yamal’s increasing influence. Although he has not made any formal requests to club president Joan Laporta, the fact that a 17-year-old could impact significant decisions is seen as a dangerous precedent. If not managed properly, Yamal’s growing power could threaten the long-term stability of the team.

On the field, Yamal has had an impressive debut season under coach Hansi Flick, scoring 18 goals and providing 25 assists in 55 matches, contributing significantly to Barcelona’s domestic treble. These statistics underscore his undeniable potential, but the club’s leadership must carefully control the young star’s backstage influence.

Currently, Yamal and the Barcelona squad are on vacation and are scheduled to regroup in July to prepare for the summer tour.
