Social media detectives spotted a perfectly timed video of Angel Reese looking jealous and bitter after Caitlin Clark drilled a three-pointer in Saturday’s season opener.
The rivalry between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark dates back to the 2023 women’s basketball national championship game. There, Reese taunted Clark with John Cena’s signature “you can’t see me” gesture after leading the LSU Tigers to a blowout win over the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The WNBA treated its fans to a season opener between Reese’s Chicago Sky and Clark’s Indiana Fever. Though the Fever won a lopsided affair 93-58, there was plenty of drama on the Reese-Clark rivalry front.
During the third quarter, Clark was hit with a flagrant foul on Reese to stop her from making an easy basket. Reese went over to confront Clark, but was quickly restrained.
At another point of the game, fans on social media noticed Angel Reese’s bitter reaction to Caitlin Clark making a three-pointer in the blowout win. Have a look at this money shot from the ESPN cameras:

Stop dude Reese is so jealous of Clark you can cut it with a fork…Clark is the superior player, always will be. Angel would do well the just focus on her own game, how she plays and be a solid defender/rebounder. A Rodman type. She'll have a great career if she does so. pic.twitter.com/3PU3lbF1gn

While Clark has avoided public trash talk (and taunting, for that matter), Reese has done her part in stirring up the one-on-one rivalry. Don’t forget that last year, a frustrated Reese told reporters that people aren’t just watching women’s basketball because of one person (Clark), but because of her as well.
When a reporter asked Reese about this comment ahead of last week’s season opener, she said “Next question.”
Reporter: "Last year, you made a powerful statement saying the reason people are watching women's basketball is not just because of one player [Caitlin Clark] but because of you too… do you feel like…"
Angel Reese: "Next question."
