Eminem, the rap legend known for his stoic demeanor and razor-sharp lyrics, was overcome with emotion earlier this week when he held his grandson, Elliot Marshall McClintock, for the first time. The 52-year-old rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, burst into tears as he cradled the newborn son of his daughter, Hailie Jade Scott Mathers, in a tender moment that left everyone in the room deeply moved—especially Hailie, who witnessed her father’s heartfelt first words to her child.

Hailie, 29, gave birth to Elliot on March 14, 2025, three weeks ahead of schedule, and while Eminem missed the delivery due to a prior commitment in New York, he rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as soon as he could. The emotional meeting took place the following morning, on March 15, when Eminem arrived at the hospital to meet his first grandchild. Sources close to the family say the rapper, who has often credited Hailie with saving his life during his darkest moments, was visibly nervous as he approached the hospital room.
“When he walked in and saw Hailie holding Elliot, you could see his whole face soften,” said a family friend who was present. “Hailie handed him the baby, and the second Elliot was in his arms, Marshall just broke down. Tears were streaming down his face—he couldn’t hold it back.”
As he gazed at his grandson, Eminem spoke his first words to Elliot, delivering a rap-like sentence that carried the rhythmic flow he’s famous for, yet was steeped in raw emotion. “Little man, you my new beat, keep my heart on repeat,” he said softly, his voice cracking as he rocked the newborn. The words, both poetic and personal, struck a deep chord with Hailie, who had been watching her father with tear-filled eyes.
“I’ve never seen Dad like that,” Hailie later shared on her Instagram Stories, alongside a blurred photo of Eminem holding Elliot. “Those words—it was like he was promising to be there for Elliot the way he’s always been for me. I couldn’t stop crying. It was so beautiful.”

The moment marks a new chapter for Eminem, whose journey as a father has been a central theme in his music. Fans on social media have been quick to celebrate the rapper’s transition to grandfatherhood, with many speculating that Elliot might inspire a new verse—or even a new track—from the iconic artist.
