In a surprising and headline-grabbing move, tech billionaire and X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk has once again stirred up the internet — this time by expressing his admiration for Manchester United and offering one of the club’s young stars, Amad Diallo, a brand-new Tesla Model S.
But, as always with Musk, there’s a twist.
The offer came during an impromptu live Q&A on X Spaces, where Musk was discussing artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and — unexpectedly — Premier League football. When asked about his rumored love for Manchester United, Musk laughed and confirmed it with a bold statement:
“I’ve been a United fan since I was a kid. The glory years of Sir Alex got me hooked… and I think it’s time to inject a little electric energy into Old Trafford.”
That’s when he made his shocking offer.
“I’ll personally give Amad Diallo a brand-new Tesla Model S — fully customized, of course — if he scores a goal against Manchester City this season.”
The crowd of virtual listeners erupted, and within minutes, the internet had picked up the story. “Elon” and “Amad” trended globally on X, with Manchester United fans flooding the comments in support of the challenge. Some even tagged Erik ten Hag demanding Diallo be given more playing time, especially in the Manchester Derby.
Amad Diallo, who has been gradually earning more minutes after returning from injury, posted a simple emoji response to the news — a red devil 🔴 and a lightning bolt ⚡ — sending fans into a frenzy and fueling speculation that the young winger is ready to rise to the occasion.
While Manchester United have made no official comment, sources close to the club say the players are “highly amused” by the unexpected gesture, with some teammates already joking about who might be next on Elon’s giveaway list.
Tesla has not released a formal statement either, but an internal source hinted that Musk is “dead serious” about the offer and already working with his team on potential designs for a custom Amad-themed Tesla — complete with red and gold detailing and possibly even a “Glory Glory Man United” horn setting.
As fans now look ahead to the next Manchester Derby, one thing is for sure: Amad Diallo just got a new reason to shoot for glory — and possibly drive away in silence… in a brand-new Tesla Model S.
Because when Elon Musk mixes football with futurism, anything can happen.
