Messi to Join Saudi Pro League, Set for Reunion with Ronaldo?
Lionel Messi is reportedly attracting strong interest from the Saudi Pro League amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Inter Miami.

According to journalist Khalid Al-Zahrani, the Saudi Pro League’s star recruitment program — backed by several organizations — has reignited negotiations with Lionel Messi, whose contract with Inter Miami is set to expire in December 2025.
While the Argentine superstar’s future remains unclear — with speculation about possible retirement or a return to play in his homeland — Saudi Arabia is emerging as a potential next destination.
Saudi Pro League Still Pursuing Lionel Messi
Since the summer of 2023, the Middle Eastern nation has been seriously pursuing Messi as part of its ambitious sports project aimed at attracting global football icons, following the headline-grabbing acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo by Al Nassr.
At the time, Messi received one of the most lucrative offers in football history from Saudi giants Al Hilal. However, the former Barcelona and PSG star turned down the massive deal in favor of a move to the U.S., joining Inter Miami.

Despite Messi prioritizing MLS, the Saudi Pro League has not given up on bringing him to the Middle East. Talks between both sides are still ongoing, and many are waiting for the right moment to reignite what could become one of the biggest and most high-profile transfers in football history.
Messi to Saudi Pro League: A Potential Reunion with Ronaldo?
If Messi joins the Saudi top-flight league, the Argentine icon would likely reunite with his longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo — now 40 years old but still leading Al Nassr in all competitions.

This scenario could set the stage for a final series of epic showdowns between two of the greatest players in football history.
For now, Messi remains with Inter Miami as they enter the early stages of the season. Most recently, coach Javier Mascherano’s squad was knocked out of the Concacaf Champions Cup and has followed up with disappointing results in the MLS.
