SILENT ROAR AT THE ARENA: As soon as Stephen Curry’s three-pointer went through the net, the entire arena—already ablaze with intense action—suddenly fell silent, as if someone had muted the entire arena. Tens of thousands of spectators stood up at once, not a single cheer, just a sea of hands on their chests. At baseline, a small photo of Rodney Rogers was illuminated at the exact moment Curry turned around, touched his chest, and raised three fingers toward the stands in a long-prepared ritual. What gave the audience goosebumps was the detail of Curry retreating to his own court without smiling—his eyes red, his head bowed slightly, and his teammates behind him also stopped, no one running to celebrate even though this was the most important shot of the game. A slow-motion angle also showed his father, Dell Curry, wiping his eyes in the stands, while the LED board above displayed a message that appeared for just four seconds: “For Rodney.” Without words, without announcement, with just one throw and a few small movements, Curry turned an entire chaotic arena into a breathtakingly beautiful moment of remembrance. - News

Steph Curry’s first dunk in six years may have been his last.

The Golden State Warriors star, 36, wowed fans when he slammed down a dunk over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, March 1 — but Curry said it’s unlikely he’ll attempt the impressive move in any future games.

“That will probably be my last dunk,” Curry told reporters after the game, which Philadelphia won 126-119, according to CNN. “I’m calling it right now. That was the last one you’re going to see,” he reiterated.

The four-time NBA champ told reporters he’s “been feeling pretty good” physically as the second-half of the season begins. “I’ve been doing some knee stuff all year. And you want to take advantage of a cherry-pick opportunity,” he said.

But Curry also added that “it took everything out of me to get up there.”

Curry was able to recall his last dunk before the one on Saturday, telling reporters, “Six years ago. At home. Right wing. The right corner. A little back cut. I think it was a pass from KD [Kevin Durant].”

He also noted that the previous dunk happened at the Oracle, the Warriors former home arena. And since Saturday’s game was on the road in Philadelphia, Curry said. “I never dunked at Chase [Center]. How about that?”

The Warriors star revealed that it was assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse who put the idea in his head to dunk during the game on Saturday. “Ironically, this morning at shooter run, Stackhouse said he wanted to see a dunk,” Curry said.

“He hadn’t said that all year and I haven’t heard that in years and it happened tonight which is kind of funny. It was a very random comment this morning,” he continued.

Next, Curry and the Warriors will take on the Charlotte Hornets at Chase Center in California on Monday, March 3.
