Angel Reese’s second season in the WNBA was quite an eventful one. Once again, she dominated on the court and led the Chicago Sky in both scoring (14.7) and rebounding (12.6). She made history in the process, becoming the fastest WNBA player to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds.
Aside from that, Reese also now holds the two highest single-season rebounding averages in WNBA history. In her rookie year, she led the league in rebounding with 13.1 per game.
However, it wasn’t all positive for Reese. Not only did the Sky finish with a 10-34 record, but the All-Star forward also sparked controversy as well when she made comments that Chicago deemed “detrimental” to the team.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reese called for the Sky to add better players while also criticizing the team’s situation. She went as far as to say that she might have to “move in a different direction” if she doesn’t see any improvement from the franchise.
Reese was suspended for half a game (against the Las Vegas Aces) due to her remarks, although she ended up missing the whole contest due to a back injury.

Now, amid the WNBA offseason, Reese has kept herself busy with various activities. Aside from working out, she continues to host her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast. More recently, she even made history as the first professional athlete to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway.
On Monday, however, a fan pointed out that Reese has been “MIA” on social media. While she continues to post, she hasn’t engaged much with fans and simply drops updates about what’s going on with her life. The 23-year-old apparently wants it that way.
“That was the goal for this offseason,” Reese wrote. “Quietly minding my business so everybody won’t mind MINE.”
Reese has received more than her fair share of criticism, with many social media users taking notice of everything that she does. While she has also received plenty of support, there’s no denying that she has plenty of critics.
That being said, it’s not hard to see where Reese is coming from in her decision to focus on herself and avoid the haters.
