Devon Sawa may be remembered as the teen idol of the late ‘90s and early 2000s with roles in Now and Then, Casper, and Final Destination, but to millions worldwide, he will forever be the face of “Stan”. His unforgettable performance in Eminem’s 2000 video gave the obsessive fan a face and a hauntingly human story.
Speaking with The Cut, Sawa reflected on his recent meeting with Eminem at the New York premiere of Stans, the new documentary. “I knew this was the one that I had to bring my son to”, he said. “It was amazing to bring ‘Stan’ back to life, even just for a few moments. It was like getting closure after 25 years that I didn’t know I needed”.

This time became even more special when his current co-star, Tiffany Haddish, surprised him with a FaceTime call from Dr. Dre, who co-directed the “Stan” video. “This was the first time I had spoken to him in 25 years”, Sawa said. “I had spent more time with him than I did with Eminem while working on ‘Stan.’ It was so good to see him as well”.

And when asked what musicians he stans right now, Sawa says: “I like JID, and I like Kendrick Lamar. Obviously, I still like Eminem. He keeps evolving with the times”.
