Jack White will headline the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving halftime show Nov. 27, becoming the first artist booked for the holiday classic under the team’s new partnership with Eminem.
For the Detroit-bred rocker, who’s fresh off his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction with the White Stripes, the nationally televised halftime set will be his first-ever performance at Ford Field.
White’s selection, announced Sunday, comes on the heels of last week’s news that Eminem and his manager, Paul Rosenberg, have been tapped by the Lions to program the annual Thanksgiving show through 2027.
The performance will be produced by L.A.-based Jesse Collins Entertainment, which also oversaw last year’s star-studded Michigan Central train station reopening concert in Detroit. Eminem and Rosenberg were producers of that Ford-sponsored event, which featured White and his band in a leading role.
Another Detroit native, gospel singer CeCe Winans will perform the national anthem. Winans has won 17 Grammy Awards, including two earlier this year for best gospel album, with her record “More Than This,” and best contemporary Christian music performance for “That’s My King”.
For the first time, the Lions will partner with Feeding America “and invite people watching at home to make a monetary donation to help ensure everyone has access to the food they need to gather around full tables this holiday season,” the Lions announced in a news release.
Eminem has become one of the Lions’ most prominent celebrity fans and is a familiar sight at Ford Field during the NFL season.
The Lions will play the Green Bay Packers in the latest installment of the 90-year-old Thanksgiving tradition. The game will air nationally on Fox at 1 p.m. this year instead of its longtime 12:30 p.m. start.
