The couple hit the red carpet looking chic days after the red carpet premiere of Hargitay’s ‘My Mom Jayne’
Mariska Hargitay and husband Peter Hermann are taking date night to the red carpet.
On Tuesday, May 20, the couple attended the premiere for Vie Privée (A Private Life) at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival.
Hargitay, 61, and Hermann, 57, walked the red carpet in classic ensembles for the event. Hermann looked dapper in a black tuxedo, worn with a white button-down shirt and black bow tie to maintain his polished look, while Hargitay channeled old Hollywood glamour.
The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress wore a black dress with a twist. The star’s gown featured a fitted, one-shoulder silhouette and details that made it sing — silver and gold beaded embroidery went down the left side of the dress and formed an ornate shape at the shoulder for added visual appeal.

The gown additionally featured a subtle carpet-grazing train that avoided a violation of the Cannes Film Festival’s updated red carpet dress code, which bans “voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests” from all of its events.
Hargitay completed her look with dangling diamond earrings, bracelets and rings, and a small shoulder bag with a chain strap. The couple sweetly walked the carpet arm in arm, with Hermann allowing his wife the chance to shine by having her pose solo.
Hargitay attended Cannes this year in support of her self-produced and directed film, My Mom Jayne — a documentary exploring the life of her mother, Jayne Mansfield.
For the film’s May 17 premiere at Cannes, the 61-year-old walked the red carpet in a dazzling hot pink sequin gown that sparkled with every camera flash. The evening was a family affair — Hargitay walked the carpet with Hermann, along with their three children: Amaya Josephine Hermann, Andrew Nicolas Hermann and August Miklos Friedrich Hermann.

After the event, the actress reflected on her mother attending the Cannes Film Festival in the 1950s and ’60s, and shared how it felt for her to debut a film about her mother’s life at the festival.
“The photos of her, in Cannes in particular, were always so meaningful to me because of how free and happy and in love she was with my father [Mickey Hargitay],” she told Deadline, noting that those pictures of her mother at Cannes “seared this emotional place” in her heart.
“To be here, to bring her back here, and to tell her story was quite meaningful,” she added.
